Forms-based authentication using Windows local user accounts

I have a Tomcat application that uses forms-based authentication and a private database of user accounts to authenticate users.  I need to change the application so that users are forced to log on using a username and password that corresponds to a Windows local user account on the host PC.  Can I use Waffle to verify that the username/password entered corresponds to a local user?  Do I need to give Tomcat any special privileges?

Secondly, does anyone know how I would do the same thing if the application was hosted on Linux, i.e. authenticate against the local Linux user accounts?

Yes, Waffle will do this for you. The answer of whether you need anything special with Tomcat is "it depends". It depends on your Active Directory configuration. Try the demos first on the host PC.

I am not aware of Linux software that does it, but I really don't know much about it either.
