Account without password

I've setup tomcat with waffle-spring-filter sample at my development workstation that aren't connected to any domain.

Attempt to access http://localhost:8080/waffle-spring-filter in IE gives me login/password dialog. In case account doesn't have any password I can't login via dialog.  When I specify some password for that account I could login in IE dialog.

Is this my configuration mistake?

BTW Adding localhost to Intranet zone make IE logging in without any dialogs even for account that don't have password.

The website needs to be in the intranet for SSO to work. The rest seems to behave as it should (the whole dialog thing looks reasonable to me). What's the real problem?

User without password isn't authenticated when I enter its name in dialog.

You would need a client-server HTTP trace to troubleshoot this, could be a client problem. Try IEHttpHeaders.
