Waffle equivalent on Unix

Sep 14, 2010 at 6:50 AM

Hi,

Waffle works great on Windows with sun jre on client and spring on server side. Is anybody aware of an equivalent framework on unix for the same?

I am working on a platform independent  project. Waffle is the first choice for windows, any recommendations/references for unix?

Thanks & regards,

If you mean active directory authentication, there's a product called LikeWise open that provides active directory integration on unix. It looks very good. There's a feature request to implement an IWindowsAuthProvider based on that (and effectively port Waffle on *nix). Would love someone to contribute.

There are several ways to perform platform independent authentication that i know of:

1. Kerberos - fully supported in java - http://spnego.sf.net/ is implementation of kerberos http authentication filter

2. NTLM - jcifs NtlmHttpFilter - It doesn't work with Windows 7/Server 2008 in default configuration(though you can enable it)

3. NTLMv2 - jespa NTLM HTTP Single Sign-On - it fixes many issues, that jcifs NtlmHttpFilter has, but it's commercial (paid) software.
